Boxes Go Wild FAQ
Answers to the questions players ask most: how the game works, scoring, leaderboards, offline play, ads, purchases and your data.
Gameplay
What kind of game is Boxes Go Wild, and who is it for?
Boxes Go Wild is a free, single-player number merge puzzle game for Android phones, with iPhone and iPad coming soon. It suits players aged 13 and over who like number puzzles, games they can pick up and put down anywhere, and chasing a high score on weekly and world leaderboards. The whole game plays offline.
How do you play Boxes Go Wild?
Tap one of the five columns to drop the falling box into it. Boxes with the same number that touch merge into one box worth double, and one merge can set off the next. The game ends when a column is full. See How to play.
What makes Boxes Go Wild different from other number merge puzzles?
The merging is familiar; the rest is not. The board starts three rows high and rises with your score (WILD LIFT), and at full height STEAM BLAST clears the bottom row. Cursed crates double when their chains break, steel crates never merge but break apart, WILD RUSH doubles your points for 10 drops, and a gothic machine with a gargoyle, a bell tower and an announcer reacts to how you play.
How big is the board?
Five columns. Each game starts with three rows open, and your score lifts the launcher one row higher at 60, 600 and 4,000 points, up to six rows (WILD LIFT).
What is the highest number you can make?
There is no limit. A 2048 becomes a gold crate, and bigger boxes turn to crystal.
Which numbers fall?
2, 4, 8 and 16 at first, with small numbers most often. Bigger values, up to 128, join as your biggest box grows.
Can I undo a move?
No. You can pause the game to continue, restart or go home, but every drop counts.
Can I see the next box?
Yes, with NEXT. It is free in your first three games and with WILD PASS; otherwise you can turn it on before a game with 80 coins or an optional video.
Scoring and strategy
How is the score calculated?
Each merge scores the value of the new box. Chains multiply it: ×1 for the first merge, ×1.5 for the second, ×2 for the third and so on. Three or more boxes merging at once add another ×1.25. See Tips.
What is WILD RUSH?
Long chains fill the WILD RUSH gauge. When it is full, all your points are doubled for the next 10 drops.
What is STEAM BLAST?
Once the board is at full height, your points build steam. Release it to clear the whole bottom row, up to twice a game.
What are steel and cursed crates?
From 512 on, a steel crate can fall: it never merges, cracks on one merge next to it and breaks on a second, paying 10 coins. A cursed crate arrives in two chains; merges next to it break them, and it is freed at double its value.
What do the boosters do?
Wild Bomb removes one box, Chain Blast clears every box with the same number, and Wild Card doubles one box. COMEBACK bursts the top three boxes of every column when the board is full, so the game goes on.
How do I get boosters?
With coins, from the daily rewards, with an optional video, or in packs from the shop.
Leaderboards and rewards
How do the leaderboards work?
WILD RANKS has a world board with everyone's best score and a weekly board that starts fresh every Monday at 00:00 UTC. See WILD RANKS.
Do I need an account?
No. The game gives your phone a random player ID. You choose a nickname of 3 to 12 letters, numbers or underscores, and your country flag comes from your phone's region.
Why is my score not on the leaderboard?
Only scores that beat your best are sent. If you were offline, your best unsent score is sent at the next game end or app start. Scores near the top are also checked with your phone's integrity check.
Will the game tell me when someone passes me?
If you are in the world top 50 and allow notifications, yes, at most once a day.
What are the daily rewards?
WILD WHEEL gives one free gift crate a day and one more with an optional video. SUPPLY DROPS give three more a day. There are also 33 achievements with coin rewards. Daily rewards reset at your local midnight.
Offline, ads and purchases
Can I play offline, without wifi?
Yes, it is an offline game: the whole game, your coins and your progress work without internet. Live leaderboards, ads, purchases and restoring purchases need a connection.
Are there ads?
Yes: a banner, short break ads between some games (never in your first three games) and optional reward videos. The AD-FREE purchase removes the banner and break ads.
What is WILD PASS?
An optional subscription (weekly, monthly or yearly): no banner or break ads, daily coins and a booster, daily rewards without videos, a faster coin crate and the NEXT box in every game.
Do I have to pay to play?
No. The game is free to play, and every purchase is optional.
Devices and data
Does my progress move to a new phone?
No. Your progress is stored only on your phone, and deleting the game deletes it. Purchases such as AD-FREE and WILD PASS can be restored in Settings.
Which devices are supported?
Android 7.0 or later, phones and tablets. iPhone and iPad (iOS 15 or later) are coming soon.
Which languages does the game support?
17: English, Turkish, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Russian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Thai, Hindi, Arabic and Hebrew.
What data does the game collect, and how do I delete it?
See the privacy policy. Settings → DELETE MY RANK DATA removes your leaderboard data at once, and you can also ask us to delete your data.
