How to play Boxes Go Wild
Boxes Go Wild is a free number merge puzzle game for Android. You tap a column, the falling box lands there, and equal numbers that touch merge into one box worth double. Keep merging, chain the merges for big scores, and don't let a column fill up.
1. Tap a column
A numbered box waits in the launcher above the board. Tap any of the five columns and the box falls into it, landing on top of whatever is already there. There is no dragging and no timing: the column you tap is where it goes.
2. Merge equal numbers
When the box lands next to or on top of a box with the same number, the two merge into one box worth double: 2 + 2 = 4, 4 + 4 = 8, and so on through 1024 and 2048. There is no upper limit. A 2048 becomes a gold crate, and anything bigger turns to crystal.
A box can merge with several equal neighbours at once (left, right and below). Three or more boxes merging together is worth extra points.
3. Chain the merges
The new, bigger box can touch another box of its new value, and merge again. That is a chain. Every step of a chain scores more than the one before, so a single well-placed box can set off a cascade worth far more than separate merges. For chain setups that score more, see the strategy tips.
4. Lift the board (WILD LIFT)
Every game starts on a low board with three rows open. Your points fill a meter, and the pistons lift the launcher one row higher at 60, 600 and 4,000 points, up to the full six rows. The board never comes back down.
If a column reaches the ceiling before the first lift, the board lifts early instead of ending your game.
Once the board is at full height, your points build up STEAM BLAST: release it to clear the whole bottom row, up to twice a game.
ROOF DROP. Once the board has reached six rows, PRESSURE leaks: every drop that scores nothing lets some out. When it runs out, a warning counts down three drops; any points stop it. If not, the gate comes down a row and crushes the blocks in its way. Score to lift it again.
5. Keep the columns low
The game ends when a column is full. Spread your boxes, keep space for the next ones and merge before the board closes up. If you run out of room, a COMEBACK bursts the top three boxes of every column and the game goes on.
Which numbers fall
Falling boxes are 2, 4, 8 or 16 at first, with small numbers most often. As you build bigger boxes, bigger values join in:
| Your biggest box so far | Boxes that can fall |
|---|---|
| below 128 | 2 to 16 |
| 128 or more | 2 to 32 |
| 1024 or more | 2 to 64 |
| 4096 or more | 2 to 128 |
Special crates
- Steel crate (from 512 on): never merges. A merge next to it cracks it, a second one breaks it and pays 10 coins.
- Cursed crate (from 512 on): arrives wrapped in two chains. Each merge next to it breaks a chain, and when it is free its value doubles.
The NEXT box
NEXT shows the box that comes after the falling one, so you can plan two moves ahead. It is free in your first three games and with WILD PASS; otherwise you can turn it on before a game with coins or an optional video.
Pause
Tap pause to continue, restart or go home. There is no undo: every drop counts.
